Free Image Resizer, Converter & Compressor — Online & Private
Whether you are filling an online exam form, applying for a passport, or just need a smaller photo for email, this free tool lets you resize an image, convert it to JPG, PNG or WebP, and compress it to an exact file size — all in one place. Because everything runs inside your browser, your photo is never uploaded to any server, so it stays completely private.
How to resize and compress an image
- Click Choose an image or drag your photo into the box above.
- Pick a quick preset, or set your own output format, width, height and target KB.
- Click Process image to generate your resized, compressed file.
- Check the results, then Download your ready-to-upload image.
Compress a photo to under 50KB, 20KB or any size
Many government and exam portals set a strict maximum file size for photo and signature uploads. Turn on Compress to target size, type the limit (for example 50 KB or 20 KB), and the tool intelligently lowers the JPG or WebP quality until the file fits — without you having to guess a quality percentage. If it cannot reach the target at the current dimensions, it tells you honestly and suggests resizing smaller.
Convert iPhone HEIC photos to JPG
iPhones save photos in the HEIC format, which most Indian government and exam portals refuse to accept. Drop a HEIC file here and the tool converts it to a standard JPG (or PNG/WebP) that uploads everywhere. The conversion happens on your own device.
A note on form requirements
The quick presets are based on commonly requested sizes and are provided for convenience only. Photo and signature specifications differ between portals and change from time to time, so always confirm the exact format, dimensions and file-size limit in your official notification or the portal's upload page before submitting.
Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded anywhere? No. All processing happens locally in your browser using JavaScript and the Canvas API. Nothing is sent to a server, and re-saving the image also strips hidden GPS and camera metadata.
Why can't I compress a PNG to a target size? PNG is a lossless format, so file size is driven by dimensions rather than quality. To hit an exact KB target, choose JPG or WebP, or reduce the image dimensions.
Will resizing reduce quality? Making an image smaller keeps it crisp. Enlarging beyond the original size can look soft, since a browser cannot add detail that was not captured.
Does it work on mobile? Yes, it works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone and desktop.
